Getting started
What is non-medical home care?
It's everyday help at home: bathing, dressing, meals, housekeeping, companionship and errands. It doesn't include skilled nursing such as wound care, injections or therapy.
Do we need a doctor's order?
Not usually. Non-medical care doesn't require a doctor's order. Some long-term care insurance policies do require a licensed health care practitioner to confirm that care is needed, and we'll help you with that step.
How does care get started?
Call or send a request. We'll schedule a free in-home consultation, write a care plan with you and introduce your caregiver.
Which areas do you serve?
Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns and Volusia counties in Northeast Florida.
Our caregivers
Are your caregivers background screened?
Yes. Every employee passes a Level 2 background screening before working in a client's home.
How are caregivers trained and supervised?
Caregivers are trained before their first assignment and every year after. A registered nurse supervisor approves each caregiver's assignment and checks in regularly.
Will we have the same caregiver each visit?
We work to keep the same caregiver whenever possible, so your loved one can build a relationship and routine.
Can caregivers help with medications?
Specially trained aides can remind clients to take medications and help them take their own medications, with written consent. They can't give injections or decide doses.
Cost and payment
Does Medicare pay for this kind of care?
Usually not. Medicare covers short-term skilled care, not ongoing help with bathing, meals or companionship.
Do you accept long-term care insurance?
Yes. We help confirm benefits, provide the records insurers request and send itemized invoices. When your policy allows it, we bill the insurer directly.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
We'll go over scheduling and minimums at your consultation so you can plan.
Do you accept Medicaid?
We're enrolling with Florida Medicaid and its long-term care plans. Call us to check where enrollment stands.
Safety
What happens during a hurricane?
We keep a Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan. We contact clients before, during and after a storm and help families plan ahead, including registering with the county special needs registry when appropriate.
How do I raise a concern?
Call our administrator at any time. You can also contact the Florida Abuse Hotline at 1-800-962-2873 or the AHCA Consumer Complaint Line at 1-888-419-3456.
